Gerlegården, Kungshamn

Gerlegården, som uppfördes på 1780-talen. är idag den äldsta bevarade byggnaden i Kungshamn. Av de över 500 trankokerier, som fanns i Bohuslän runt sekelskiftet 1700/1800, är Gerlegården ett av få kvarvarande. Här fanns också sillsalteri och tunnbinderi samt hamn med egna fartyg för export av produktionen till olika hamnar runt om i Europa. Till fiskarnas och trankokarnas fromma startades senare också ett brännvinsbränneri med tillförande krog.

Familjen Gerle, kom ursprungligen från Tyskland på 1670 och verkade som sadelmakare fram till sin död 1720. De hade 15 barn och ett av dessa, Johan Hans Michael utvandrade till Sverige och slog sig ner i Visby där han verkade som sadelmakare. 1780 kom Gerlesläkten till Sandbogen som byggde upp köpmanshuset med tillhörande byggnader. Förutom köpmanshuset med trankokeri, sillsalteri och tunnbinderi ägde man tre fartyg namngiva efter döttrarna med vilka man bedrev frakt ända till Frankrike och Spanien.

 

Museet och Loppisen är öppen varje onsdag kl. 13.00- ca 16.30 från 1 april till 21 december 2022.
